All My Relations is a project comprised of a series of photographs and interviews with staff members and volunteers from select Northern California animal rescue and rehabilitation organizations, highlighting their unique ability to create a reciprocal, empathic connection with animals. In the case of those organizations which rehabilitate and release wild animals, it explores their ability to develop a deep understanding of the nature of each animal and what they may need to survive following their release. This documentary project underscores the important work of each participating organization while raising pertinent ethical questions and concerns regarding our relationship with animals.
The photographs and interviews will be available through an exhibit and a book; the exhibit will travel in Northern California, opening at Grass Valley Center for the Arts on August 25, 2023 (reception from 5–7 pm) and running through September 29, 2023. It will then move to De Anza College (dates to be determined).
All My Relations is a project in collaboration with historian Janet Clinger.
